How to Properly Install and Use Loading Arms?
Loading arms are widely used in many industries and serve as excellent aids for liquid and gas transportation. Initially, loading arms were only applied in the chemical industry, but with technological improvements and societal progress, their functions have diversified, and their advantages have been recognized across various sectors, holding a vital position in major fields. Although loading arms offer numerous benefits, proper and rational use is essential-incorrect installation or operation will inevitably compromise their effectiveness. Therefore, let's explore the usage guidelines for loading arms.
Installation Guidelines for Loading Arms
Installation Standards: Loading arms must be installed in accordance with corresponding standards. When connecting the loading platform to the loading arm, ensure the connection is firm.
Installation Steps:
Connect the horizontal short pipe to the foundation flange on the loading platform.
Then connect the horizontal short pipe to the lifting arm.
After preparing the above steps, install the balancer and connect its tie rod.
Balancer Adjustment: Adjust the balancer within the specified range.
Flange Cleaning: Clean each flange surface to prevent foreign matters from affecting installation. If there are sealing grooves, install the O-ring before connection.
Usage Precautions for Loading Arms
Ensure the safety limit alarm system is sensitive and functional throughout the operation of the loading arm.
Check all systems for normality before each loading/unloading operation.
Strictly follow the manual operation procedures for loading arms.
When operating the outer arm, apply force evenly and avoid excessive exertion.
During assembly of the fluid loading arm, follow the working diagram to install components from the foundation swivel to the vertical aluminum pipe in a bottom-up sequence, and install the balancer last.
Do not use the balancing device as a force-bearing point during operation.
To adjust the balancing force:
Place the loading arm in a horizontal state, unscrew the end cap of the balancer, and the adjustment screw will be visible.
If the loading arm tends to descend freely, tighten the screw with a socket wrench; if it tends to rise freely, loosen the screw until the loading arm can stay stable within the range of -5° to 60°.
Do not open the valve of the loading pipe until the interface of the loading/unloading arm is properly connected to the tank car.
Do not activate the loading/unloading system, especially the valve of the loading pipe assembly, without understanding the working principle and operation steps of the fluid loading arm.
