How to Judge Left-Hand and Right-Hand of loading arm?

LNG loading arm

Core Judgment Method (Industry Universal Standard)

The judgment of a loading arm's rotation direction is based on two key factors: the operator's viewing perspective and the arm's reset state. The specific steps are as follows:

Determine the Observation Position: The operator stands on the platform or trestle, faces the tank truck (or ship) to be loaded/unloaded, and positions themselves directly in front of the loading arm's column (or on an installed mobile ladder, opposite the column).

Confirm the Reset State: Ensure the loading arm is in a non-operational "reset state" - that is, the inner arm and outer arm are folded and retracted, not extended for docking with the tank truck.

Judge Left/Right Side:

If the inner arm and outer arm (as a whole) in the reset state are located on the operator's left side (and also on the left side of the column), it is a left-hand rotation loading arm;

If the inner arm and outer arm (as a whole) in the reset state are located on the operator's right side (and also on the right side of the column), it is a right-hand rotation loading arm.

In short: "Stand in front of the column facing the tank truck; if the arm is on your left, it's left-hand rotation; if on your right, it's right-hand rotation."

It is important to note that the "rotation direction" describes the retracted position of the loading arm as a whole, not the rotation direction of a single swivel joint. For example, the swivel joint of an LNG loading arm can achieve 360° three-dimensional movement, but the judgment of rotation direction only focuses on the left-right position of the arm relative to the column and the operator when reset - it has nothing to do with the rotation direction of the joint itself.
