What should be paid attention to in the installation and maintenance of loading arms?

Installation Precautions

Positioning Accuracy: Ensure the installation position is aligned with the loading port to avoid excessive bending or stress on the loading arm, which may affect its service life and operational safety.

Sealing Treatment: Check the tightness of flange connections, threaded interfaces, and other parts. Use appropriate sealing materials (such as gaskets, sealants) to prevent medium leakage, especially for flammable, explosive, or toxic media.

Support Structure: The supporting bracket should be firm and able to bear the weight and dynamic load of the loading arm. Avoid direct support on pipelines to prevent deformation.

Electrostatic Grounding: For loading arms transporting flammable media, install effective electrostatic grounding devices to discharge static electricity in time and reduce the risk of ignition.

Range of Motion: Confirm that the loading arm can move freely within the specified angle and stroke without interference from surrounding equipment.

Maintenance Key Points

Regular Inspection:

Check for wear, corrosion, or damage to components (such as joints, pipelines, seals), especially at welding points and rotating parts.

Inspect the tightness of fasteners and replace loose or damaged bolts/nuts promptly.

Lubrication Management: Lubricate rotating joints (such as ball joints, swivel joints) according to the manufacturer's requirements to ensure smooth movement and reduce friction loss. Use lubricants compatible with the medium.

Seal Replacement: Replace aging or damaged seals (O-rings, gaskets) in a timely manner. When selecting seals, consider the compatibility with the medium (temperature, corrosion resistance, etc.).

Function Testing: Periodically test the flexibility of the loading arm's movement, the effectiveness of safety devices (such as overload limiters, emergency release systems), and the accuracy of positioners (if any).

Corrosion Protection: For loading arms in outdoor or harsh environments, perform anti-corrosion treatments (painting, galvanizing, etc.) regularly. Remove rust and replace severely corroded components.

Record Keeping: Maintain detailed maintenance records, including inspection dates, problem descriptions, replacement parts, and maintenance personnel information, to facilitate traceability and scheduled maintenance planning.

Special Notes for Emergency Situations

In case of medium leakage, abnormal noise, or stuck movement during operation, stop using immediately and inspect the cause. Do not force the loading arm to operate.

After maintenance, conduct a comprehensive functional test to ensure the loading arm returns to normal working condition before resuming use.
