When the vehicle with an empty fuel tank pulls up to the gasoline pump, the gasoline nozzle is inserted into the fuel tank, and the liquid gasoline flows through the nozzle to fill the tank. When the fuel level reaches the automatic shut-off point, the nozzle will stop dispensing gasoline. At this point, there will be gasoline vapors present in the fuel tank and nozzle.

 

The vapor recovery swivel adaptor is connected between the gasoline nozzle and the fuel tank. Its function is to capture these gasoline vapors and return them to the underground storage tank. The device consists of a rotating swivel joint, which allows for easy movement of the nozzle during the fueling process, and a vapor recovery pipe that connects the swivel joint to the underground storage tank.

 

As the gasoline flows into the fuel tank, the gasoline vapors are captured by the vapor recovery swivel adaptor and are pushed through the recovery pipe back to the underground storage tank. This process ensures that any emissions and environmental pollution are minimized during fueling.
