What are the main components of a bottom loading arm, and what roles do they play?

bottom loading arm

A standard bottom loading arm consists of five core components, each of which is indispensable for stable operation.

First, the swivel joint: it is the "flexible joint" of the loading arm, allowing the arm to rotate freely in multiple directions (horizontal, vertical), ensuring that the arm can be accurately aligned with the bottom port of the receiving vessel even if the transport vehicle is parked slightly deviated.

Second, the telescopic arm section: it can adjust the length of the loading arm according to the distance between the fixed base and the receiving port, adapting to different models of tank trucks or railcars.

Third, the loading coupler: it is the connection part between the loading arm and the receiving vessel, with a sealing ring and a quick-locking structure to ensure tight connection and prevent liquid leakage during transfer.

Fourth, the valve system: including control valves and emergency shut-off valves. The control valve adjusts the liquid flow rate, and the emergency shut-off valve can be quickly closed manually or automatically (triggered by leakage sensors) in case of accidents such as leakage or overfilling to stop the transfer immediately.

Fifth, the support frame: it bears the weight of the entire loading arm, ensures the stability of the arm during operation, and avoids deformation or damage caused by the weight of the liquid and the arm itself.
