Why Are Conventional Bottom Loading Arms Safer Than Top Ones?

Safety is key in bulk liquid transfer, especially for flammable, explosive or toxic media. Conventional bottom loading arms outperform top ones in safety, mainly in three aspects: no liquid splashing, less static electricity, and full emergency protection.

First, they avoid splashing. Top loading causes splashing due to liquid pouring from the top, which risks fires, explosions (for flammables) or pollution and health hazards (for toxics). Bottom loading transfers liquid via the tank's bottom port, with smooth flow along the inner wall, eliminating this hazard.

Second, they reduce static electricity. Top loading generates much static from liquid-pipe friction and splashing, which may spark and ignite flammables. Bottom loading uses closed transfer for stable flow, reducing friction. Equipped with electrostatic grounding devices, it quickly dissipates static to safe levels.

Third, they have complete emergency protection. Most are fitted with emergency shut-off valves, which can be manually or automatically closed in case of leakage, overfilling or fire to cut off the liquid source and prevent worsening. These make them the preferred choice for bulk liquid transfer.
