Operating procedures and maintenance issues of the oil transfer arm

liquid loading arm

The oil transfer arm is a fluid loading and unloading equipment used to connect storage tanks with transport tools such as tank trucks and oil tankers. It is mainly used for loading and unloading liquid materials in petroleum, chemical and other industries. It has multiple functions such as telescoping, rotating, and lifting, and can flexibly adjust its extension length and rotation direction to achieve precise positioning of oil products, thereby improving loading and unloading efficiency. Today, let's follow us to learn about the operation steps and maintenance issues of the oil transfer arm!

I. General Operation Steps of the Oil Transfer Arm:

Arm Connection Operation: Confirm that the equipment is in good condition and that the cargo ship's berth is within the working range of the oil arm. Start the electro-hydraulic system of the hydraulic arm, release the arm-retracting locking device, operate the oil arm interface to dock with the cargo ship's interface, lock the interface, and check the interface tightness.

Disconnection Operation: Drain the residual liquid in the oil arm, release the interface locking device, cover the interface cover, operate the oil transfer arm to retract, and add the arm-retracting locking device.

**When operating the oil arm, keep in contact with each other, and the operator should pay attention to observation. Whether it is arm connection, disconnection operation or loading and unloading operation, if there is a limit alarm sound, it indicates that the oil arm is beyond its working range. The oil arm should be disconnected, the ship's berth should be adjusted, and reconnected.

During the use of the hydraulic system, the hydraulic oil pressure should be within the rated range (refer to the oil arm manual for details), and the hydraulic oil temperature should not exceed 60℃.

II. Inspection and Maintenance of the Oil Transfer Arm:

The oil transfer arm should be inspected and maintained regularly. For manual oil transfer arms, check the condition of steel wire ropes, the performance of upper and lower pulleys, the sealing performance of rotary joints, the connection of bolts and pins, the balance performance of inner and outer arms, and the operation performance, etc. For hydraulic oil transfer arms, check the condition of steel wire ropes, the performance of upper and lower pulleys, the balance performance of inner and outer arms, the operation performance, the working condition of the hydraulic system, the performance of oil filters, the tightness of hydraulic pipelines, joints and hydraulic cylinders, the leakage of hydraulic components, the sealing performance of rotary joints, the connection of bolts and pins, etc. For parts with poor lubrication, add an appropriate amount of grease; when the hydraulic oil level is lower than the lower limit of the oil tank's oil level gauge, add hydraulic oil to 2/3 of the oil level gauge's height.

Inspection of the balance performance of the oil arm: Operate the inner arm or outer arm to stop it at any position within the working range. If it is a hydraulic oil transfer arm, place the control handle in the floating position. At this time, if the inner arm or outer arm basically no longer swings, it indicates that the balance performance is good; otherwise, if it cannot stop at any position, it indicates poor balance, and the balance weight needs to be adjusted.

Inspection of internal leakage of the rotary joint: The rotary joint is equipped with a sealing inspection hole. Unscrew the hole plug, and if crude oil is found inside, it indicates that the rotary joint's sealing ring is invalid and should be replaced.

Lubrication: Regularly add an appropriate amount of calcium-based grease to each lubrication point of the rotary joints of the oil transfer arm and the rotating bearings of the upper and lower pulleys.
