Startup and Shutdown Operations of Train Loading Arms

I. Startup of Train Loading Arms

Open the inlet valve and close the outlet valve according to the selected process flow.

After starting the pump, slowly open the outlet valve once the pressure gauge indicates a normal reading.

II. Operation During Loading/Unloading

During normal operation, adjust the opening of the pump outlet to operate the pump in the high-efficiency zone. Do not run at the hump of the performance curve, and avoid prolonged operation below 30% of the rated flow.

Monitor the pressure gauge reading carefully.

Inspections during operation should include:
① Regularly observe whether the readings of pressure gauges, ammeters, voltmeters, and vacuum gauges are normal.
② Ensure all fixed connection parts are not loose.
③ The rotor and all components should operate smoothly without abnormal noises or friction.
④ Check the shaft seal leakage: normal mechanical seal leakage should be ≤3 drops per minute. Verify that the temperature rise at the motor and bearings is ≤70°C. If any abnormalities are found, address them promptly.
⑤ The pump's safety protection and control devices, as well as all instruments, should be sensitive, accurate, and reliable.

III. Shutdown of Loading Arms

Slowly close the outlet valve first, then stop the pump.

After stopping the pump, close the inlet valve and pipeline valves.

If the ambient temperature is below 0°C, drain the liquid from the pump to prevent freezing and cracking. For long-term shutdown, disassemble, clean, and store the pump properly.

Inspect the technical condition of the equipment, wipe and maintain it, and organize and store tools.

Fill in the operation record and cut off the power supply.
