Safety Operation Procedures for Pneumatic Mobile Ladders of Loading Arms

I. Pre-Operation Preparations

Equipment Inspection

Check all pneumatic system components (cylinders, air pipes, joints, etc.) for no air leakage, damage, or looseness. The pressure gauge should stabilize within the specified range (typically 0.4–0.6MPa).

Ensure the mobile ladder structure is free of deformation, welds are crack-free, moving rollers rotate flexibly, and components like extension plates and handrails are secure.

Verify that safety protection devices (e.g., guardrails, non-slip pedals, limit switches) are intact without missing or damaged parts.

Environmental Confirmation

The operation area should be free of obstacles, with a flat ground surface. Avoid operating on waterlogged, icy, or soft ground.

Set up warning signs around the perimeter to prohibit non-operators from entering. In flammable and explosive environments, ensure no open flames or static electricity hazards (e.g., check that grounding devices are well-connected).

Personnel Qualifications

Operators must receive professional training, be familiar with equipment performance and operation procedures, and strictly prohibit unlicensed operation.

Wear required labor protection supplies (non-slip shoes, safety helmets, safety belts, etc.). When working at heights, always fasten the safety belt and secure it to a reliable position.

II. Operation Specifications

Startup and Lifting Control

Slowly open the pneumatic system air source valve. After air pressure stabilizes, start the cylinder via control buttons or handles to lift/lower the ladder at a uniform speed. Avoid sudden acceleration or abrupt stops.

During lifting/lowering, personnel must keep away from the ladder's movement path to prevent pinching or collision.

Docking and Fixing

Align the mobile ladder with the top of the tanker or work platform. After confirming the position is accurate, fix the ladder body with limit devices or locking mechanisms to prevent sliding or shaking.

The extension plate must fully unfold and press tightly against the edge of the tanker or platform to ensure a secure connection. Strictly prohibit climbing when the ladder is unsecured.

Load Limitation

Use the equipment strictly according to its rated load (usually marked in a visible position on the ladder). Never overload or concentrate heavy objects, and the number of operators must not exceed the design specification (typically ≤2 persons).

Emergency Handling

If pneumatic system failures (e.g., sudden pressure drop, abnormal noise), severe ladder shaking, or safety device malfunctions are detected, immediately stop operation, close the air source, evacuate personnel, and notify professional maintenance personnel.

In flammable and explosive environments, in case of leakage or unusual odors, cut off the air source immediately, activate the emergency plan, and prohibit the use of non-explosion-proof tools.

III. Post-Operation Inspection and Maintenance

End of Operation

Close the pneumatic system air source valve, release residual air pressure, retract the mobile ladder to its initial position, and ensure all components are reset.

Clean debris from the ladder surface, check for oil stains, corrosion, or wear marks, and promptly wipe or apply anti-rust treatment.

Routine Maintenance

Regularly inspect (at least once a week) the tightness and lubrication of pneumatic components (add lubricating oil as specified in the manual), and replace aged air pipes or seals.

Test the effectiveness of limit switches and locking mechanisms to ensure normal functionality.

Recording and Archiving

Truthfully fill in the Equipment Operation Record, including operation time, pressure parameters, fault conditions, and maintenance details for traceability and management.

IV. Notes for Special Scenarios

Flammable and Explosive Environments: Prohibit using metal tools for striking on the ladder. All components must meet explosion-proof requirements (e.g., anti-static coatings). Test surrounding gas concentrations before operation.

Severe Weather: Do not use the ladder in strong winds (wind force ≥ level 6), heavy rain, lightning, or other adverse weather. If already in operation, stop immediately and evacuate.

Work at Heights: When exceeding 2 meters, always use a safety belt. The ladder's inclination angle should be maintained between 60°–75°. Prohibit climbing on handrails or crossing guardrails.

Strict compliance with the above procedures effectively ensures the safe operation of pneumatic mobile ladders for loading arms, reduces operational risks, and extends equipment service life. In case of complex working conditions or equipment abnormalities, promptly contact professional technicians-never modify or operate recklessly.
