The truck loading arm-also known as a land-based fluid loading/unloading arm-consists of components such as swivel joints, spring balance cylinders, metal piping, sealing assemblies, and emergency breakaway valves. Since different components have varying wear cycles, establishing a routine inspection and maintenance system is essential to ensure long-term, stable operation.
Daily inspections should focus on the following areas:
1. Swivel joints: Check for medium leakage and ensure smooth rotation; replace seals promptly if dripping occurs.
2. Spring balance mechanism: Observe whether the arm assembly hovers stably; it should not sag or spring upward, as this complicates alignment operations.

Additionally, operator training must be prioritized to standardize operating procedures; rough handling or forceful pulling of the arm is prohibited, and the arm must be returned to its stowed position and locked immediately after operations conclude.
